Description Item Specs   The Skyjiro Deluxe Iaito Series is a super lightweight iaito sword with excellent balance. It is constructed exactly the same as a traditional cutting sword but it's hand- sharpened properly to take down the weight. This iaito is constructed of handforged 1085 steel which is then differentially hardened with a suguha midare hamon and komaru boshi. It is then hand polished to bring out the hamon and boshi. The tsuka features imported Japanese cotton ito which is wrapped very tightly with hishigami. It has incredible handling and is extremely light weight. When swung correctly, it will make a high pitched tachikaze (whistling) noise. This sword will be a pleasure to train with day in and day out. This truly is one of the best priced high quality production unsharpened iaito on the market today. Condition: Brand New Features Blade: The blade has been constructed of 1085 monosteel which is then differentially hardened with a suguha midare hamon and hand polished with Japanese Water Stone. There is an extended Ikubi chu-kissaki with defined yokote and whitened ko-maru boshi. The blade has a deep full length bohi on both sides that terminate sharply in the ko-shinogi. Saya: The saya has a black gloss finish with a buffalo horn koiguchi, kurikata, and kojiri. It features a high quality brown imported Japanese cotton sageo tied in an iaido knot. Koshirae: The habaki is made of brass with the crossed feathers family crest engraved on both sides with brass seppa and a Musashi style tsuba made of blackened bronze. The tsuka handle is shaped in the traditional Rikko (hourglass) shape and has gentle curvature to aid ergonomics. The fuchi and kashira are made in the Higo style, which are very comfortable and ergonomic, with the taka-chigai (crossed feathers) menuki made of brass to compliment the habaki design. The imported Japanese brown cotton ito is wrapped tightly with hishigami over dyed brown rayskin samegawa. Note: Sword stand sold separately.
