Description Item Specs   This is the newest addition to our pirate sword family, a pirate style cutlass with a solid design and intricate detail. The sword is almost perfectly balanced with a solid steel pommel and full wrap around basket guard. The fittings of the sword are very impressive with a detailed galley on the basket guard and a skull and cross bones on the scabbard throat. The sword was made to impress on all levels. The Cutlass was a short slashing sword, ideal for the close- quarters battles aboard great sailing ships. It has developed a reputation as the pirate weapon of choice and this version by Denix exploits this connection, with the Skull-and-Crossbones emblazoned on the scabbard throat and a full-rigged pirate ship engraved on the hand guard. A real pirate cutlass will have the hand guard, or "bell" on only one side, The reason for this is so that at night the sword could be fastened more securely to a wall, so all the rocking of the boat would not knock it down. Also, space was precious but you would still have wanted some hand defense. Because of this, these swords will mount quite well on a wall in your home! Overall Length: 30 " Blade Length: 21.5 " Blade Steel: Stainless Steel Blade: Sharpened Handle Material: Metal Condition: New in the box Features Blade: The blade of the sword is HQSS 440 stainless with the visible temper line along the edge of the blade. The sword comes factory sharpened. Scabbard: The scabbard of the sword is wooden with a black semi-gloss finish. The end cap of the scabbard is steel with two crossed pistols on each side. The scabbard throat is also a steel fitting with a skull and cross bones in relief on each side. Guard: The guard of the sword is solid steel with a bronze tint. The guard also features a full basket style hand guard with a galley style ship against waves. Handle: The handle is steel with an intricate pattern spiraling away from the guard. The handle ends in a solid steel silver pommel with delicate detail pressed into the steel.
