Item Specs

The Great Sword made its first appearance during the 16th century. The sword was used for two purposes on the battle field. The first use was to break apart enemy pike formations. The sword would be swung to break the heads off the pikes, then used on the vulnerable pike men to break their heads. The second use for the Great Sword was as a defense against mounted charges. The long length of the blade allowed the sword to take out the legs of incoming horses.

Features

Blade: The blade of the sword has been constructed from 440 Stainless Steel with a ridge down the center and a ricasso at the base of the blade. The blade comes unsharpened.
Scabbard: The scabbard of the sword has been constructed from black leather with a belt loop.
Guard: The guard of the sword is a Oakeshotte Type XVII with a curved design and pointed Quillon. Scroll work has been worked into the steel of the guard.
Handle: The handle is a double handed design with a ring separating each section of the massive handle. The handle has been painted black. The pommel of the sword is a massive spiked construction that balances the sword.
