Richard I, better known as Richard the Lion Heart has always been associated with England and the Crusades. It is ironic though that he was hardly in England and did not speak English. He also never saw Jerusalem during the Crusades. He was the third son of King Henry the II and Eleanor of Aquitaine. Richard's parents separated and he spent most of his childhood in France.

When he took the throne of England he put all of his efforts into raising funds for the Crusades. After he had finally reached the Holy Land he was abandoned by the King of France and forced to make a treaty with Saladin. It was his courage in battle that gave him his immortal name the Lion Heart.

This is the Great Sword of the Lionheart. Most warriors had arming swords, but only great knights and Kings wielded a Great Sword. The sword is perfectly balanced with a Bastard Handle and solid steel pommel. This sword is perfect for display or stage fights.

Features

Blade: The blade of the sword is 440 stainless steel with a slightly sharpened edge and very sharp point. A ridge runs the length of the blade until it meets a long Ricasso at the base of the blade. The blade has a polished finish and is rat tang.
Scabbard: The scabbard of the sword is wooden with a black imitation leather covering. The drag of the sword and the scabbard throat are simple burnished steel that gives the scabbard a simple function beauty.
Guard: The guard of the sword is a solid steel cross guard design.
Handle: The handle of the sword is imitation leather with a divide for each hand. The pommel of the sword is a solid disk with the Lion of Richard imprinted into the steel.
