This is a Reproduction of an Early Medieval Arming Sword. The Arming Sword was the sword of the Knights for 350 years. During its height of use a knight was considered undressed unless he was armed with the sword. Typically the sword was wielded with either a buckler or dagger in the opposite hand of the sword.

Even after the development and widespread use of the long sword hit Europe the Arming Sword was still carried by most knights. Where the long sword was eventually retired during the Renaissance, the Arming Sword instead evolved into the Rapier.

Features

Blade: The blade of the sword has been constructed from 440 Stainless Steel. A fuller runs down the length of the blade. The blade comes unsharpened with a polished finish and full tang construction.
Scabbard: The scabbard of the sword is wooden with a dark natural finish. The drag and scabbard throat of the sword are steel.
Guard: The guard of the sword is tough steel in an Oakeshotte Type XVIa style. The guard is built solid.
Handle: The handle of the sword is wooden with a black leather cover. The tang of the sword goes all the way through the handle of the sword. The pommel of the sword is a disc shape that balances the sword.
