The Shinai can be traced back to the Edo Period of Japan. The bamboo sword came into use as a solution to the Bokken. The Bokken was constructed from hardwood and while less dangerous than a steel sword, still was capable of wounding, maiming and even killing students.

This is the innovative Katana Style Bamboo Shinai Sword.

Features

Blade: The blade of the Shinai has been constructed from a three tier bamboo design. The end of the blade has been secured with a sued fitting. The base of the blade is also secured with sued.
Tsuba: The Tsuba is a thick plastic ring.
Tsuka: The Tsuka has been covered with a black imitation ray skin Same. A black cotton Ito has been wrapped over the Same. The Kashira is a black polished steel fitting.
